‍WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Clarity, documentation and practical next steps

Receiving an ADHD assessment can be an important step towards understanding yourself and your experiences. Following your assessment, you will receive a clear clinical outcome and professional documentation to help you take your next steps.

YOUR DIAGNOSTIC OUTCOME

A clear outcome following your assessment

Following your comprehensive clinical assessment, your clinician will consider all of the information gathered, including your developmental history, current experiences, clinical interview, assessment tools, functional impact and supporting information.

Your diagnostic outcome will be based on the overall clinical picture, rather than questionnaires or individual symptoms in isolation.

The outcome will be clearly documented within your diagnostic report, providing an explanation of the clinical findings and the evidence considered as part of your assessment.

Whether ADHD is diagnosed or not, the aim is to provide a professional, considered outcome that gives you greater clarity and understanding.

YOUR COMPREHENSIVE REPORT

Professional documentation you can take forward

Following your assessment, you will receive a comprehensive written diagnostic report outlining the assessment undertaken, relevant clinical history, findings, clinical formulation and diagnostic outcome.

Your report will be securely shared with you through the WriteUpp patient portal, where you will be able to access and download a copy for your records.

With your consent, your report can also be securely shared with your GP or another relevant healthcare professional where appropriate.

Your report provides a clear, professional record of your assessment and its outcome that you can retain and use when discussing your needs with other professionals or organisations.

USING YOUR REPORT

Supporting conversations at work, university and beyond

Your diagnostic report can provide professional supporting documentation when discussing your needs with an employer, occupational health service, university, educational institution or other organisation.

Where applicable, it may support conversations around reasonable adjustments and appropriate accommodations relating to ADHD.

The Equality Act 2010 provides legal protection against disability discrimination and may require reasonable adjustments where the relevant legal criteria are met. Your report can help provide supporting evidence when discussing your individual needs, although decisions regarding adjustments remain with the relevant employer, university or organisation.

Depending on your circumstances, you may also wish to explore workplace support through Access to Work.

Your report may also be used as supporting evidence for relevant benefit applications, including Personal Independence Payment (PIP), where appropriate. A diagnosis alone does not determine eligibility for benefits or adjustments.

NHS & ONGOING CARE

Understanding what happens after a private diagnosis

Horizon Clinical Group provides diagnostic assessment only and does not provide ADHD medication prescribing or titration.

If you are considering ongoing ADHD treatment through the NHS following a private diagnosis, it is important to understand that local NHS arrangements vary. A GP or NHS service may not automatically accept a private diagnosis or agree to ongoing treatment or shared-care prescribing.

If ongoing NHS care or shared-care prescribing is important to you, you are responsible for checking with your GP or local NHS service before your assessment to understand their current policy and whether they accept diagnostic reports from private providers.

Horizon can provide your diagnostic report and relevant clinical information to support communication with your healthcare professionals, where appropriate and with your consent.

MOVING FORWARD

Understanding yourself is only the beginning

For many adults, receiving an ADHD diagnosis can provide validation and a new framework for understanding experiences that may have been difficult to explain for many years.

Your assessment and report can help you identify areas of life where ADHD may have had an impact and provide a clearer basis for conversations about support, adjustments and practical strategies.

Horizon Clinical Group focuses on diagnosis, validation and understanding. We do not provide medication prescribing or titration, but your diagnostic report can provide a professional foundation from which you can explore the appropriate next steps for you.

Your assessment. Your understanding. Your next step.
